Cologne, Germany
The 7th Economics of Media Bias Workshop, held in Cologne, Germany, from February 29 to March 1, 2024, featured several sessions exploring media bias and its impact on society. The conference dealt with current issues related to censorship, social media, editorial choices, the visibility of women in media, the role of media in fighting intolerance, and the concentration of media markets, for example.
The keynote speech by Vincenzo Galasso (“Persuasion: Channels and Long-term effects”) addressed some “big picture” questions about persuasion.
The workshop was supported by Germany’s Cluster of Excellence in Economics (“ECONtribute: Markets & Public Policy”), University of Cologne Business School, and Jönköping International Business School, providing a platform for scholars from various institutions to share insights on media-related phenomena.
